600 street working children families registered in Ansari Vocational Training Center of Department of Labor and Social Affairs under the joint project of UNICEF-Help receive 5000 AFN cash support from WFP

Help INGO with the financial support of the World Food Program (WFP) and in coordination with the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Herat Province has started the process of distribution of cash support for purchasing food packages for 600 street working children families who are registered in Help-UNICEF joint project (Vocational Training Courses) at the presence of the Governor of Herat Province, Director of Labor and Social Affairs, representatives from UNICEF, WFP, beneficiaries and their families as well as media.

In addition to visiting the cash distribution process, the governor of Herat province also visited the vocational training courses and expressed his happiness and appreciation from Help INGO, WFP and Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs/DoLSA. Meanwhile, he called for sustainability and effectiveness of the Vocational Training Courses aiming at supporting street working children.

It should be mentioned that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the activities of the Vocational Training Courses have been suspended upon the order of the Govt. and these cash supports are provided for the financial and food support of the street working children for two months by WFP in close coordination of DoLSA.

It is worth mentioning that, Help INGO has started the Vocational Training Courses for street working children with the financial support of UNICEF, Help HQ office and in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Social Affairs/DoLSA in Ansari Vocational Taining Center in Herat province. In total 600 street working children or one of their eligible immediate family members have been registered for the first phase of training in Ansari Vocational Training Center in Herat province.

Vocational Skills Training Courses are provided to street working children and their families in order to help them find a decent and sustainable income and to prevent them from returning back to streets. In addition to learning vocational skills, these children will also receive cash support from WFP for purchasing food packages for six months.
