Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) – Livelihood Project

This is a joint UNICEF, WFP and Help project for a period of 24 months covering 3,250 (1300 females and 1950 males) most deprived children including street children, unaccompanied deported children, IDPs, returnees’ children, and children with disabilities. Children 16 years of age or above will be taken into the TVET training program. In cases of children below 16 years of age, one of the breadwinners of their families will be accepted into TVET training. The project is being implemented in Herat (city and 8 districts) with 1,600 beneficiaries, Badghis with 550 beneficiaries, Ghor with 550 beneficiaries, and Farah province with 550 beneficiaries.

Every beneficiary will undergo vocational training for 4 hours/day for 6 months beginning in February 2022. Provision of TVET and Facilitation of Employment for 3,250 above-mentioned most vulnerable children in 4 provinces is the main objective of the project. The target group – 40% females – will benefit from quality vocational training & employment services. Trainees also receive training in small business – 1.5 hours/week – and general education – 45 minutes/day.
