Eid Exhibition was held on the Occasion of Eid al-Fitr for three days on the lawn of Women Empowerment and Social Association (WESA) in Herat

The Eid exhibition was organized by the Afghan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry/AWCCI at the Women Empowerment and Social Association/WESA.

This exhibition was held in order to introduce and sell the products of Afghan businesswomen, entrepreneurs and to support women’s domestic products.

In this exhibition, about 25 booths and around fifty women displayed their products, including handicrafts, food, clothes, dried fruits, carpets and kilims, candles, various sweets, jewelry, pickles, and saffron.

The participants of this exhibition were beneficiaries, trainees, and graduates of Technical and Vocational Education and Training/ TVET programs of national and international organizations, and as well as women activists, private companies, and productions.

The purpose of holding this exhibition was to increase the capacity of women in trade and marketing and to introduce women’s products and handicrafts to the community.

In this exhibition, trainees and participants were familiarized with marketing methods, measuring market needs, how to interact with customers, and they were encouraged to continue their work.

Help held three booths in this exhibition in order to introduce the products, and handicrafts of the previous and current trainees of this organization, familiarize the trainees and graduates with the market and business environment and train them how to start their small businesses.

Several groups of trainees of various vocations, including carpet weaving, advanced tailoring, and handicraft exhibited and sold their handmade products. The participating trainees in these three days, while selling their products, got acquainted with starting small businesses, interacting with customers, and introducing and selling products to the community.

One of the successful groups participating in this exhibition was the Golbaft Girls Group. This group was created by three successful graduates of Carpet Weaving Vocation of Ansari Vocational Training Center/VTC.

The three trainees have completed six months of training in the carpet weaving vocation at Ansari Vocational Training Center/VTC with financial support from the Help, UNICEF and WFP.

At present, these three trainees have been able to produce good carpet products such as watches, bags, and carpet paintings with their basic and available tools and facilities and display them in exhibitions and sell them. it is worth mentioning that this successful group participated in four exhibitions in the last six months.

Among the three booths mentioned above, two booths were for TVET trainees and graduates of Help and one booth was for women entrepreneurs and businesswomen of Kahsan district. The participants of this booth were the beneficiaries of the project “ Construction of a permanent center for women’s production, exhibition and trade in the border area in Islam Qala township of Kohsan district of Herat province “.

They displayed and sold their products and handicrafts, including decorative weavings, carpets and kilims, dried fruits, beads, kitchen utensils, needlework, and other handicrafts, with the support of the Help.

It is noteworthy that the Help has recently received a project from the PATRIP Foundation entitled ” Construction of a permanent center for women’s production, exhibition and trade in the border area in Islam Qala township of Kohsan district of Herat province.

The building of this center will be built on two acres of land, the main purpose of which is to create an equipped permanent center to show and sell domestic and local products and industries of women and the economic growth of local people. The center is also set to develop trade between women’s trade centers on both sides of the border.
