Help Holds Child Protection Training to Staff of Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs (DoLSA) of Herat Province

In continuation of capacity building trainings to the staff of Directorate of Labor and Social Affairs / DoLSA of Herat province, a series of training sessions have been planned to be offer to the staff of different units of DoLSA-Herat during 2020 & 2021. The CB trainings are funded by Help and UNICEF under the project: UNICEF-Help joint project on livelihood, skills training, job facilitation and psycho-social support for 2300 most deprived street working children or their immediate family members in 4 western provinces – Herat, Badghis, Ghor and Farah.

The overall goal of the CB training sessions to DoLSA staff of Herat and the above mentioned provinces is to develop and strengthen their capacities and to bring changes in specific areas of knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to help them prepare for better job performances.

The second round of training sessions were organized on “Child Protection” to twelve staff of DoLSA- Herat including Head of Orphanages Dept., Head of Kindergartens Dept., Head of Bibi Somaya Kindergarten, Head of Bibi Khadija Kindergarten, child protection workers, Kindergarten and Orphanages teachers, Admin, HR and finance relevant employees. The training was offered from 23-25 November, 2020, for three half-days at Women Empowerment and Social Association / WESA.

The training program was officially opened by remarks by Sohrab Faizy, Help’s master trainer, encouraging the participants to take the “Child Protection Training seriously with the intention of enhancing their knowledge on child protection system, principles and mechanisms.

At the beginning of training a pre-test was taken from participants in order to identify the capacity and level of knowledge of the participants regarding child protection and at the end a post-test was conducted in order to assess the skills, knowledge, and understanding as a result of the training. Also at the end of the training evaluation form /evaluation questionnaire was distributed for participants in order to evaluate the training results, its success amongst the participants as well as get their suggestions/recommendations for the next training program.

Overall the training was evaluated as positive both by trainer and participants. DoLSA staff thanked and appreciated Help for the successful organization of the Child Protection training and requested more of such trainings in the future.

Help has received a project from UNICEF and the headquarters of Help in Bonn, Germany. The mentioned Project Title is: “Reintegration of Highly Vulnerable Children (Including Street Working Children, Internally Displaced Children, Unaccompanied Cross Border Children, and Children applying to join the Police force) for 2,300 People in Herat, Badghis, Ghor and Farah provinces by Providing Vocational Training and Vocational Facilities” which is applicable for 24 months from October 14th, 2019 to October 13th, 2021
