Help is supporting Herat Province in Preparedness to COVID19 Spread and Containment

Help is seeking to contribute to the efforts of the government of Afghanistan and UN agencies in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in Herat.

Herat is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan, located in the western part of the country. Together with Badghis, Farah, and Ghor provinces, it makes up the western region of Afghanistan. The province of Herat has 19 districts and over 1,000 villages.

Currently, Herat is the epicenter for the corona virus in Afghanistan. Herat is located on the neighborhood of Iran and a large number of Afghans commute using this border on daily basis. Recently, according to Department of Refugees and Repatriations of Herat / DoRR, around 10,000 individuals were returning every day from Iran. Therefore, the number of COVID-19 patients in this area is increasing and the medical infrastructure and equipment are inadequate.

Help is planning to provide the health care staff of specialized COVID-19 hospital with Personal Protective Kits / PPE Kits (medical cloths, medical gloves, glasses, masks and etc.) and Hygiene Parcels for patients and health care staff.
