On October 26th, 2020 a workshop was held on “Support the Identification and Monitoring of Conflict-Affected Children” for the community elders and council members in Herat Province.  In total 30 male participants benefitted from this workshop.

The same Workshop for 24 female participants also was held on October 19th by Help in Herat Province.

The main pivotal objective of this program was to help and support the identification and monitoring of conflict-affected children through the workshop and discuss with community leaders, district elders, and local council members on children at child protection risk. Besides, these influential members of the communities are invited to share and refer cases to the team for case management.

Moreover, these people are trained and familiarized with child protection risks so that they can help decline cases of violence against children and have appropriate cooperation with the relevant authorities.

The types of cases such as serious and critical sickness, violence, sexual abuse, exploitation, addiction, underage marriage, tough work, vital rights of children, partnership, or contribution of children were part of the cases which they were encouraged to introduce for the case management team. In addition, some cases which were registered by the team and the basic forms were shown as examples of the actions by the Case Management team. Subsequently, the merit of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training program for them was introduced to them for some of the cases with high vulnerability suffering from poverty.

This program will be held in 5 courses for a total of 140 participants both male a female. District elders, mullahs, members of the CPAN network (Child Protection Action Network) in the city, and targeted districts of Herat and the members of local councils will be the participants for this workshop.

It is worth mentioning that recently, Help in Afghanistan has launched a project from the United Nations International Children Fund (UNICEF) entitled “Supporting Vulnerable Children by Providing Humanitarian Child Protection Services in Herat, Ghor, and Farah Provinces through Media Awareness, Psycho-social Counseling to the children, their families, religious leaders and society against violence, abuse, exploitation, and negative dealing mechanisms.” This project is scheduled to be implemented for 10 months from June 21, 2020, to April 21, 2021, the main purpose of which is to protect children against neglecting, abusing, mistreatment as well as child care and its side effects.
