Launching Community Awareness Programs by Help in Herat Province

To raise public awareness about COVID 19 and child protection mechanisms, Help has launched long-term awareness programs in Herat, Ghor, Farah, and Badghis provinces.

These programs started on January 28, 2020, in Herat, but were delayed for several months due to the outbreak of coronavirus and quarantine in Herat province.

So far, 13 sessions of these programs have been held in Herat and another 24 sessions are scheduled to be held in different parts of Herat city.

The audience of these sessions, which discuss important issues related to children, are district elders, council members, mullahs, school principals of each district, and some families.

The main topics discussed in these sessions are the importance of children’s lives, the right to education of children, Traumatic issues for children, child addiction, unsafe migration, child labor, child protection system, forced and underage marriage, and the rights of boys and girls.

Holding these awareness sessions has been warmly welcomed by the local people and they have asked for its continuation.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 52 sessions of this type of program are to be held in Herat, Ghor, Farah, and Badghis provinces.

To be noted that Help has received a project from UNICEF and the headquarters of the German Help in Bonn, Germany. The mentioned Project Title is: “Reintegration of Highly Vulnerable Children (Including Street Working Children, Internally Displaced Children, Unaccompanied Cross Border Children, and Children applying to join the Police force) for 2,300 People in Herat, Badghis, Ghor and Farah provinces by Providing Vocational Training and Vocational Facilities” which is applicable for 24 months from October 14th, 2019 to October 13th, 2021
