Success Story of Wahid, a Current Trainee of Modern MDF Carpentry-Help-UNICEF Project at Ansari VTC

Wahid who is a resident of Kohsan district of Herat province is currently learning carpentry skills at Ansari Vocational Training Center. Wahid had suffered so many problems at his young age. He has been the victim of the wrong traditions that are common in some areas of Afghanistan.

Wahid was forced by his family to get engaged before completing his secondary school. He was also forced to leave school due to economic problems and had to travel to Iran and work for almost three years to provide his wedding expenses.

Wahid, after returning back from Iran to his home in Herat, started working in a small-scale shop with less salary to afford his family expenses.

He says, “I was hopeless because I had no skills in any vocations to find a decent job and fair income”.

He says that, I had heard about Ansari VTC from a friend of mine and got interested to go and learn a vocation.

Fortunately, after having the eligibility criteria and passing the registration process, I was enrolled in the carpentry vocation at Ansari VTC.

Now, fortunately as days pass I learn carpentry skills with so much interest and enthusiasm that gives me hope in my life.

Wahid has a wish to secure a decent job and proper income after his graduation from Ansari VTC and can afford his wedding and family expenses.

He is very hopeful to continue his studies once his economic situation gets improved.
