The activities of Vocational Courses at Ansari Vocational and Technical Center resumed

After nearly six months of quarantine due to the spread of the Coronavirus, eventually, the government of Afghanistan officially approved and announced the reopening and resumption of Vocational Training Centers for all over the country on 17 Aug. 2020.
Following the order of the govt. and respecting all health instructions, Help restarted Vocational Skills Training/VST for the 600 trainees in Ansari and Islam Qala VTCs – in Herat province.

Currently, 600 trainees are busy with learning different vocations and skills in different courses, including; carpet weaving, advanced tailoring, cooking, beauty parlor, house wiring, home appliance repair, Mobile phone repair, etc. in Ansari Vocational Training center.

In addition to learning the Vocational and Technical studies, beneficiaries of this program also participate in literacy, hygiene, and psychosocial courses, which many participants believe have had a positive impact on their social and personal life.

Besides, Help, in the framework of the current joint project with UNICEF, has started vocational skills training for eligible street working children or their immediate family members in Ghor, Badghis, and Farah provinces with 150 bens for Ghor, 150 bens for Badghis, and 100 bens for Farah province.

The eligible trainees for Ghor and Badghis had already been screened and selected by joint committees from Help, DoLSA, and UNICEF provincial offices.
Through this project Extremely vulnerable children, including street working children, internally displaced children, unaccompanied cross border children, children applying to join the police force who meet the criteria for vocational training and have a high motivation to learn and make a living are targeted and If the child fails to meet the vocational training criteria, one of his/her parents will be admitted to the training programs.

To be noted that Help has received a project from UNICEF and the headquarters of the German Help in Bonn, Germany. The mentioned Project Title is: “Reintegration of Highly Vulnerable Children (Including Street Working Children, Internally Displaced Children, Unaccompanied Cross Border Children, and Children applying to join the Police force) for 2,300 People in Herat, Badghis, Ghor and Farah provinces by Providing Vocational Training and Vocational Facilities” which is applicable for 24 months from October 14th, 2019 to October 13th, 2021
