The ceremony for the book “Basics of Journalism” was held in Doorbin Farhangsara; cultural activities’ center in Herat.

This book has been written and published by Mr. Nematullah Sarwari, Head of Faculty of Journalism and Public Communications of Herat University who is one of pioneers in journalism in Afghanistan aiming to provide a reference for journalism.

In this book, basics and fundamentals of journalism are discussed and information regarding the history of media in Afghanistan and the way it entered the country is provided.

Mr. Habiburahman Pedram, member of Herat Provincial Council, Mr. Raufiyan Head of Herat Department of Information and Culture (DIC), Mr. Zarqam Director of Culture Directorate, Mr. Noor Ahmad Karimi Director of Information Directorate, a number of university professors, members of Civil Society organizations and Experts Council, journalists, cultural activists and a number of Help staff attended the ceremony.

In the beginning, Mr. Rahyab one of university professors, considered the publication of the book “Basics of Journalism” a positive step in development of journalism and a support to the students and interested people in this field and elaborated on the book.

Then, Mr. Habiburahman Pedram, member of Herat Provincial Council while expressing his happiness on compilation and publication of this valuable book introduced it as a great achievement in journalism field in Herat.

Mr. Raufiyan Head of Herat Department of Information and Culture expressed his happiness regarding the publication of the book and said this book can be used as a good reference for journalism students and those interested in this field.

In the end, Mr. Sarwari, while appreciating those who supported him in this work, presented a comprehensive explanation on the subjects discussed in the book and called it as a reference book in journalism field.

The ceremony ended by presenting an appreciation letter to Mr. Sarwari for his efforts on compilation and publication of this book.
