First Round-Table in Bamyan

Participants: DoLSA, OBTA, governor’s representative, Help, AKF, UNHCR, AABRAR, RFDO, SSSPO, Environment Dept., Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Craftsmen Union and Labor Union.

Organization for Better Tomorrow in Afghanistan (OBTA) in close cooperation with DoLSA held the first TVET Round Table. The TVET Round-Table aims to facilitate cooperation among organizations working in the field of vocational training and collect statistic for TVET activities in Bamyan province.

In this Round-Table, all relevant organizations and govt. departments participated actively and showed strong support to this program.

This meeting was hosted by OBTA and DoLSA with cooperation of Help INGO. At the beginning of this meeting, the Head of DoLSA Mr. Ali Mohammad Saighani welcomed all members. He explained the goals of Round-Table meetings and pointed to the importance of vocational training activities in today’s society.

According to the agenda, all members met each other, shared their activities and had discussion on vocational activities in Bamyan. Some members had questions regarding vocational activities. They raised questions for other members, mentioned challenges related to their activities, and shared their ideas on better services of vocational activities in Bamyan.

All participants welcomed the TVET round-table initiative and its goals. There was a consensus that the roundtable is a proper mechanism where TVET related problems and solutions could be raised. It also could help TVET stakeholders to raise their voice and collectively lobby to attract central government support for sustainable TVET programs in Bamyan.

Participants also decided to discuss about challenges and solutions on vocational activities in Bamyan at next Round-Table meeting with more details.
