On Wednesday February 09, 2022, Help, in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Social Affairs of Herat Province, held the graduation ceremony for 903 TVET Trainees from six-month courses of Ansari Vocational Training Center, and also Mobile VTCs in Islam Qala, Bozdan, Chudangar, koor-e-mili and Robat Sangi of Herat province.

The defacto government officials, including the governor of Herat province, director of Department of Labor and Social Affairs (DoLSA), senior staff of UNICEF and WFP organizations in the western zone, country director and staff of Help and its partners, including the Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan/OSAA, representatives from national and international organizations, representatives of some companies, organizations and associations and a large number of beneficiaries of the vocational training program as well as the media, attended the ceremony.

After recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, a short clip was broadcasted about the activities carried out through the livelihood project, which reflected part of the activities of Vocational Training Center. Subsequently.

Mr. Mohammad Ali Soroosh, Help’s Country Director for Afghanistan, welcomed the participants and gave a brief overview regarding the livelihood project and its impact over the beneficiaries.

Mr. Soroosh added “the TVET project is funded by the UNICEF and the following marketable vocations are offered to the trainees: Tailoring, cooking, motorcycle repair, TV repair, bag embroidery, industrial electricity, hairdressing, construction electricity, carpentry, carpet weaving and handicrafts and the trainees will be able to enter to the labor market. These trainees are consisting of 250 women and 650 men.

He added that similar programs are planned in the coming year for another 3250 individuals in Herat, Badghis, Farah and Ghor provinces who meet the conditions and complete the age of 14 years old.

Subsequently, the Governor of Herat province (Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islam Jaar), while expressing his gratitude to the Help INGO and other involved organizations, emphasized on the continuation of such useful programs. He requested the graduates of these courses not to forget such valuable education, along with the given vocational tool kits, and try to improve their capacity and earn halal income.

The director of Labor and Social Affairs of Herat province (Mawlavi Ahmad Sabet), also thanked Help organization, project donor and other partner organizations and asked the graduates of these course to work honestly and move towards a self-sufficiency life.
