Wednesday, 30 September 2015

Help Media and Culture Unit organized a tour in Herat City in the framework of Help Capacity Building Program in cooperation with Tourism Directorate (TD) of Department of Information and Culture (DIC) on occasion of World Tourism Day on 27 September 2015.

On this tour, 90 men and women from governmental and non-governmental offices, Herat Provincial Council members, Civil Society activists, media, university lecturers, Traders Union, Associations, Antique sellers, Hotel managers, travel agency managers and some Help staff attended.

The goal of organizing the tour was creating a network among several govt. and non-govt. departments to raise awareness and promote tourism. It was also a symbolic movement to highlight the importance of tourism industry and to visit some lesser-known touristic attractions in Herat.

The tour started in DIC by a welcome message and explanations on the introduction and goal of the program by Mr. Sultani, Tourism Director of DIC. Then, the group went to Chehella Khana located in Kazergah Street. In this mountainous place, Mr. Sultani and other Tourism Department’s staff led participants to Chehella Khana located on the top of the mountain. The group visited Chehella Khana attractions and on the way back, the participants depicted WTD by standing together to celebrate World Tourism Day.

Then, the group visited Shahi Garden located in Pol-e-Pashon Street and after having lunch there, they went to Women Service-Economic Center (WSEC) located on 30 Meter Street. While visiting the products exhibited in handicrafts booths by women in Sunday Market of this center, participants were introduced with various units of WSEC and bought some products to support handicrafts and local products.

In the end of this one-day tour, the group visited Doorbin Farhangsara located on 30 Meter Street and got familiarized with its cultural and artistic activities.

Help Media and Culture Unit plans to take efficient steps on tourism promotion and capacity building with active entities in this field in Herat province by designing programs and holding workshops and training courses in the framework of capacity building project.
